The History of Allen, TX
The first residents of the town were the Caddo and Comanche tribes. They were replaced by white settlers in the 1840s, and the town was officially incorporated in 1953. Real population growth took place after 1980, after the completion of highway US75. Today, the population has reached about 80,000, which is mostly made up of families (35 percent of all residents are under age 18).
Schools and Attractions
Residents of the city are served by the Allen Independent School District, with many well-rated elementary, middle, and high schools. There are seven colleges or universities within a 25-mile radius, the most notable being the University of Texas at Dallas. Some of the highlights of the town include the 32 public parks and greenbelts with amenities like swimming pools, hiking trails, and even in-line hockey courts.
