Lake Dallas real estate is quaintly situated on the northwest shore of Lewisville Lake, within a manageable commuting distance to Dallas (30 miles) and Fort Worth (39 miles.) It is a small community with plenty of lakeside recreation and a very low crime rate.
History of Lake Dallas, Texas
The town was first settled in the 1850s but did not formally take the name Lake Dallas until 1929. Now the home of roughly 6,000 people, Lake Dallas saw most of its population growth between 1970 and the present as business and commerce filled in the DFW metro area. The median family income of the city’s inhabitants is slightly higher than the state median, with very few residents living under the national poverty line.
The town is served by its own independent school district, with several well-rated elementary and middle schools. The town is also within a 25 mile radius of the Texas Women’s University, the University of North Texas, and the University of Texas at Dallas.
Things to Do
According to the town’s website, it is a “resort community” in Denton County, offering a variety of public parks, a marina, boating, swimming, beaches and even camping accommodations. Residents of Lake Dallas also enjoy a revitalized downtown area featuring shops, restaurants, and tree-lined, pedestrian-friendly streets.
Lake Dallas MLS Real Estate Listings
